November 20, 2009 Due to the fact that I am scheduled to attend the Waltham Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, the recent calendar has caused my sessions to become skewed. I was not able to do my sessions on two of my scheduled days due to Veterans Day and also due to the fact that there were no programs running at the club on the day before Thanksgiving. The result of this was that I would just have to be creative and find ways to attend the club on other days in order to make it work. Luckily, I was able to attend on some of the days in which I previously had conflicts. To make this work I was able to go to other sections of my classes, so it worked out alright in the end. As the semester comes towards the end, it is a very similar situation for the kids who attend the Boys and Girls club. They are very much aware that they had the Thanksgiving break coming up and also that they would have a break for the holidays soon after. As you can guess, this made it even more difficult to get the kids to focus on their school work. I could tell that the idea of doing homework was something that was no longer fresh to these kids and I began to think of alternative was to motivate these students to revert back to their studious ways. After careful consideration, I realized that these kids are very simple minded and that they could be bribed very easily.
