Lucia Kajganic Period 3 Chapter 5 Free Response Questions 1. Procedure: 1. Take 12 U-shaped glass tubes with a selectively permeable artificial membrane to sperate the two solutions you put inside of them. 2. Take three tubes and mark the left side with Flask A and mark the right side of one with B, the next with C, and the last with D. 3. Take three more tubes and mark the left side with Flask B and mark the right side of one with C, the next with D, and the last one with A. 4. Take three more tubes and mark the left side with Flask C and mark the right side of one of them with D, the next with A, and the last one with B. 5. Take the final three tubes and mark the left side with Flask D and mark the right side of one of them with A, the next with B, and the last with C. 6. Fill the tubes accordingly. 7. Record the results/observations prior to the experiment. 8. Wait 45-60 minutes for the solutions to settle. 9. Record the results/observations post experiment. Hypothesis: The flask with 0.8M of sucrose would have three tube with the solution to be more abundant on the left side. The flask with 0.6M of sucrose would have only two tubes with the solution abundant on the left side. The flask with 0.4M or sucrose would have one tube with the solution abundant on the left side. Finally, the flask with 0.2M of sucrose would have no tubes with the solution abundant on the left side.
