Prof. Findley PLSC 328 Assignment 5 Part 4 Grandma and Great-Aunt Mildred have been very excited recently with the Super Bowl between their two favorite teams, the Saints and the Colts. Grandma is a big proponent of the theory that passer rating determines who will win games. She believes that because Drew Brees the quarterback of the Saints had higher passer rating than the Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, the Saints would win the Super Bowl. Brees had a season passer rating of 116.1 and Manning had a season passer rating of 104.6. Great-Aunt Mildred is a believer in the theory that time-of-possession is better at determining who would win the Super Bowl. Great-Aunt Mildred and her trash talking PhD believe that the Colts will win the Super Bowl because the Colts had more time of possession opposed to the Saints. The Colts average time of possession was about 29 minutes and the Saints was about 27 minutes. Using statistics from the first four weeks of the NFL season I tested Grandma’s theory on passer rating. I found that there was a very high significance between the passer rating and the score. For every increase in 1 for passer rating the score of the team should increase by 0.242 points. The t score which helps us see if there is a relationship between two variables was 9.01 and anything over 2.58 means
