Matthew ParkerHUM 1004-1 Short Answer: Intent for the Statue of Liberty3/26/2020Instructor Ruth SchmidtFrom what I understand concerning the Statue of Liberty, she is still believed to be a modern-day Colossus of Rhodes. The Statue of Liberty to me represents the freedom that our forefathers provided us in the constitution and the Bill of Rights. She represents the victories of our country from foreign invaders as well as our defeats against others while being a beacon of hope and strength to inspire them to keep moving forward. Despite no longer being a lighthouse, she still stands as a guide to those that may have lost their way, seek happiness and freedom, but also a better life for themselves and their families and descendants. Upon gazing at her, I visualize a mother-like figure who is inviting lost souls saying “Come to witness what we have
