11/10/09 190 Notes Modernism: Neo-Realism: Protagonist had spirit problems after WWII—not only body problems Modernism included the beginning work of Martin Scorsese Two basic elements of modernism: Content —every modernist film subconsciously engages itself in social and moral values—the myth of a modernism work is a protagonist in a modern world who will not accept the way the world is structured—will question the structure and will investigate other structures, maybe with more intrinsic value—maybe find the thing they want, maybe not but the important thing is the journey.
