Amy Rice MW 10:50-12:05 SPC 1600- Johnston Due: 4/15/08 Title: “Easy Ways to Conserve” OUTLINE Exact Purpose: After listening to my speech, the audience will be more aware of some easy ways to be more environmentally friendly. INTRODUCTION Attention Getter: By a show of hands, how many people in this class actively did something this week to help the environment, or conserve resources? Audience Motivation: We need to work on saving our environment, not only for us, but especially for those who come after us. Purpose: Show the audience a few easy things they can do to help save resources. Preview: First, we are going to look at some things you can do at home or out shopping to conserve resources, then, we are going to examine some things you can do at school or work. [TRANSITION: According to the American Water Works Association, the average household uses over 69 gallons of water per day, and the average human makes about 4.5 pounds of garbage per day] I. With that in mind, lets start off by looking at some things you can do at your own home A. First, we are going to look at things you can do to conserve water at home. 1.
