POLI 30-Project 2, part 1 (Due Wednesday, Nov. 19) (5 points) NOTE: TURN YOUR GRADED COMPUTER PROJECT I, Phase 1 SHEETS IN WITH THIS SHEET. YOU WILL LOSE CREDIT IF YOU DON’T. MAKE A COPY OF BOTH—KEEP ONE COPY Select the hypothesis that you already chose in Part I (that you turned in on Monday, Nov. 3). Now, do the following: 1. Choose one (1) “control” variable that you can use to elaborate on your original hypothesis (as with the examples I gave in class or in the text). This can be a control to test for a spurious relationship, an explanation of the reason why your original IV and DV should be related, or a specification effect (is the relationship different for different subgroups of the population?). Don’t try to find an example of “Simpson’s paradox”—a special version of specification. Explain the reason why you are using this control. 2. As in Project I, with your IVs and DVs, specify the survey question (only 1) that you would use to operationalize/measure that control
