Watch how close it will come to Earth. WOW! That is close! Click here to see it pass at real speed. Remember, it is the size of a small mountain. 2. Using the Celestia 2 , let’s visit another asteroid. It is an unusual one called Ida . To go there, click once only here . You will be taken at hyperspeed to Ida and placed in position near it as it orbits the Sun. 3. Ida is 58 km long (about 36 miles) and 24 km (15 miles) wide. If it ever collided with Earth, it would extinguish all life on the planet. Look carefully and watch as Ida rotates slowly on its axis. At about 14:00:00 UTC, what do you notice appearing in the lower part of the screen? 4. Once it appears, press the [ \ ] key to restore Real time . Tap on it once, and its name and size (radius) will appear in the upper left corner. Press [
