Unformatted text preview: Brain Development March 25, 2008 Brain Development- starts 3 weeks after conception- neural tube starts as neural plate- spina bifida damage to the spinal cord- folic acid in prenatal vitamin, an increase of this will increase damage in the spina bifida- Synapses or connections the brain and the body are connecting, the arms and legs start to move- Will feel movement around the 5 th month- Cerebral cortex: responsible for memory- 90% of the brain development happens in the first 5 years.
