3/8/10 The Canadian Dollar A.K.A The Loonie As the loonie appreciates, Canadian exportations profit; and with growing demand for commodities such as the oil and lumber Canada offers the loonie’s value increases even more As a result of harsh regulations against subprime mortgages, the Canadian banking system was not affected and that can also be attributed to the rise of the loonie With the banks rated the world’s number 1 soundest and no bail-out needed from the Government, the Canadian currency will continue to appreciate
