James Ball Mrs. Baione Humanity and Empathy in the 21 st century 11/9/09 Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind”- John F. Kennedy. This quote is true; war has always been around, a constant force in nature. War through history has been seen to be sometimes necessary for example Hitler, Saddam Hussein, other tyrannical, oppressive, evil dictators to be removed, or a military intervention in a country harboring terrorists. However Senseless wars, just fought to show off power are thoughtless, wasteful, and unnecessary. I believe that all war is pointless, unless it is to thwart a radical variable, such as terrorists etc. It is not a stretch of the imagination to say that if the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom were one country, the world would be a lot safer, more wealthy, more stable, and more productive.

Unformatted text preview: This would make the western world the most powerful, most dominant military force in the world; it would be totally pointless to even attempt to attack them. This would also discourage terrorism because such an immediate and devastating response will be brought upon the country of origin that terrorism will be essentially eradicated. WarWar never changes, people are willing to kill over the littlest things, and it disappoints me. I am joining the military to destroy the radical regimes and those who almost took my mothers life on 9/11. But all should empathize and respect each others thoughts and beliefs; humanity is capable of so much good. But when arms are taken up against one another all that potential is wasted on the senseless killing of our own race...
