The NI Elvis prototype environment is a multi-functional data acquisition device that comprises of various virtual instruments including a digital multimeter, a function generator, bode analyzer along with a prototype board. It successfully integrates most of the components required to measure and analyze circuits in one board. The second order low pass filter is very effective at attenuating high frequencies. The negative gain increases rapidly as the frequency increases. The first order high pass filter on the other hand attenuates lower frequencies. The negative gain decreases as the frequency increases. It seems the only difference between first order and second order filters is the rate at which the gain changes relative to frequency. Therefore a second order circuit will respond more aggressively to a change in frequency compared to a first order

The NI Elvis is a better choice than the traditional equipment because rather than make the experiment a mundane set of instructions of data acquisition, it allows for more understanding as to why the particular measuring device is being used. It does seem to be producing slightly different results compared to the traditional equipment but stays within 4% deviation, hence rendering this issue obsolete. With respect to magnitude, a first order low pass filter attenuates high frequencies whereas a first order high pass filter attenuates low frequencies. A low pass filter could be used to block off high frequency random noise whereas a high pass filter could block off low frequency bass signals from transmitting to the tweeter. With respect to frequency, a low pass filter shifts its phase from 0 to -90 degrees whereas a high pass filter shifts its phase from 90 to 0 degrees....
