5/ extraction of trimyristin from nutmeg procedure 1 Place 2.00 g of ground nutmeg into a 10 mL round-bottomed flask. Add 5 mL of diethyl ether, attach a reflux condenser and heat the mixture to reflux for 30 min on a sand bath. 2 After cooling to room temperature, remove the solid residue by filtering through a pad of Celite on a Hirsch funnel. Rinse the flask with ether (2 x 1 mL) and pass this through the Celite pad.
