Ashley Maldonado Professor Alan Mandel CRT 100-Critical Thinking Twelve Angry Men Essay Anger is a natural emotion that arises in all human beings. Often times, anger is provoked by another person or a dilemma. In the film,’12 Angry Men’, anger strikes a group of twelve male jurors while determining the consequences of a young man that has been accused of mur- dering his father. There are three styles of communication: assertive, passive and aggressive. Each of these jurors exhibit certain behaviors of these three communication styles. Throughout the movie, I found myself empathizing more with juror #9, played by Joseph Sweeney. He was assertive in his ways of communication; he stood firmly by his conviction, but displayed sympathy throughout the entire film. Juror #9 got his point across directly without be- littling and threatening any of the other jurors. This juror's communication style is extremely similar to my own.
