Bahena Anthony Bahena PID A07912202 Sio 10 Earth Due date: February 26, 2010 1. a) The difference between renewable and nonrenewable resources is that renewable resources can be easily replaced at the same rate of their consumption, while nonrenewable resources are much harder if not impossible to replace since we consume them much quicker. b) Two renewable resources are food and water or hydroelectricity. c) Two nonrenewable resources are oil and coal. d) The United States is the world’s largest oil consumer. 2. a) The main organic materials in oil are algae and plankton. b) The main organic material in coal is quartz and clay. c) Another environmental problem associated with coal burning is acid rain and climate change. 3. a) Nuclear fusion is the process that generates energy in nuclear power plants by fusing two hydrogen nuclei together. b) Deuterium is the naturally occurring isotope that is used in nuclear reactors and it can be found in nature in Hydrogen.
