(21 pts) What are two reasons that coastal areas are typically cooler than continental interiors during the summer? Of those two, which is the reason that continental interiors are typically colder during the winter? Coastal areas are cooler because of winds coming off of the ocean bring moisture. Also, the thermal inertia of the oceans is greater than the land, causing it to heat and cool more slowly. This moderates coastal temperature and helps keep coastal areas cooler in summer than in the winter. The thermal inertia of the ocean also keeps coastal areas warmer in the winter. 2.
