Consider the following question: Is it possible for a manager to motivate an employee? Write a 350- to 700-word response explaining your answer in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation Speaking from managerial experience, yes a manager is capable of motivating an employee. Each employee is motivated to work by different incentives. It is important to be able know which motivational tool is needed to sway each employee. This makes you a better manager. In the world of behavioral science, this process of motivation can be studied and broken into two categories. These two categories are intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. These two categories can help anyone to motivate themselves and others. Intrinsic motivation is motivation from an activity because the activity itself is enjoyable. Now the activity of work is not necessarily portrayed as an enjoyable activity. So let’s first look at extrinsic motivation.
