Josh Ahn America is in the Heart An old worn down building is shown. The drab grey paint is peeling an there is a sign painted on the building which reads “Café.” Camera follows Carlos who is dressed in shabby yet somewhat decent looking trousers and a white work shirt. He walks into the building and sits down by himself at a table. He silently watches plump Filipino and Mexican girls dance around drunkenly. The music is from a jukebox and is very lively, it is a typical bar scene. He then looks around and focuses on a small Filipino man also sitting by himself, smoking a cigar and watching the girls. The jukebox stops playing and the man gets up, pays his tab, buys a pack of cigarettes and throws it down at a table of old Mexican men, cheerfully saying a quick “Good night friends here is a little present from me and Amado.” The men all grab excitedly for the cigarettes and the Filipino with a quiet chuckle walks outside. Camera shows Carlos who looks shocked by what the Filipino
