Roman wives and their virtues 09/03/2010 23:30:00 Thursday: 18 th  feb 2010 Exam is at 7 pm on April 27 th We don’t have many sources that talk about roman women and their lives  in general.  Secondly, the nature of the sources is a problem; inherent biases. They  are not written by women: truth does not come from the horse’s mouth.  Literacy levels among women were nonexistent that’s why no sources from  them.  Women just stopped at 1 st  level of education-basic reading and writing. We know of one roman poetess but even her existence is put into  question. Some scholars think the poetess is a man.  We have 2 types of sources: we have inscriptions and literary texts.  Epitaphs are inscriptions on tomb stones. Example of epitaph: “This is  the unlovely tomb of a lovely woman. Her parents named her Claudia.  She loved her husband with all her heart. She bore two sons; one of  these she leaves here on earth...”

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
