Potestas (eg. Patria potestas) – power held by magistrates, only power  with state behind it 2. Auctoritas – authority, power in a non-legal way .. moral power 3. Gratia – influence or authority,  patroni(patronus)  - from upper-class families with power - you would be a very rich man who makes himself accessible to people who are
