Totalitarianism  12/11/2007 12:14:00 Definition- when one person has total control over a political system War communism (Russia) All private property is confiscated by government Going on in Russia Lennon and communist Russia tried to eliminate money Workers and farmers were frustrated Economic chaos in Soviet Union NEP o Brings small measures of capitalism back to Russia o Lennon calls it a strategic retreat o Re-allows private trading in the soviet union o 1922 Lennon banned all political parties o Either you support the Bolsheviks or you leave or are thrown in jail Lennon dies in 1924 Succeeded by Stalin  Trotsky-so successful and popular, feared he would take total control, similar  to Napoleon Stalin worked very hard to show he was the next ruler after Lennon Stalin Secretary of the state at time of Lennon’s death
