COMM 1210 Exam 2 Study Guide The exam will cover topics from class, the text, the reader, and recitation. Ideas to work with and be able to answer more fully are on the left. Key terms that you should be able to define are on listed on the right. The exam will consist of objective items (multiple choice, true/false) which will be given on Monday and essay items which will be tested on Wednesday. Approximately 65% of grade will be earned from objective items and 35% from essay; specific percentages for each exam will be listed on test. The essay items emphasize theories from the Custom Reader, although this is not all that is tested in the essay portion of the exam. Communication in Close Relationships (Chap. 8 text; The Interactional View, Custom Reader; Relational Dialectics, Custom Reader) ~Interactional View: What is the main idea of the Interactional View? According to Interactional View, what is a family system? What are the four axioms of communication in the Interactional View? Be prepared to explain each—think of an example that demonstrates each. What is a double bind?
