Today, we are doing the seventh lab in our Electronics Lab I, EE 2231, manual. We are using LEDs and light detectors in today’s experiment. Objectives The objective of today’s lab was to study the applications of diodes in logic circuits. Also, we will study the applications of diodes as light emitters and light detectors. Procedures To start off today’s lab, we connected the circuit in Figure 1, which is known as an OR gate. We then connected input 1 to a function generator with a 0 to +3 V square wave at a frequency of about 1 kHz, and observe both the input and the output. Then we had to repeat the previous step, except with input 2 connected to the +5 V supply. Next, we were to connect the circuit drawn in Figure 2, which is known as an AND gate. We used the circuit constructed in Figure 2 and repeated the measurements we made in the first step for this circuit.
