ECE 3025C -- Electromagnetics Homework Assignment #3 (This homework set is due at the beginning of lecture on September 13, 2007) Problem 1. (20 Points) Consider the following circuit consisting of a generator, transmission line, and a resistive load at the end of the transmission line. At time 0 t = the switch is closed to charge the line to an eventual steady state voltage of SS V given by 0 L SS G L R V V R Z = + . The stabilization to SS V occurs after approximately 10 to 20 reverberations of the waves in the transmission line. Let SS V + be the sum of the all the forward facing waves and SS V be the sum of all the backwards facing waves. Then the steady state voltage is the sum of both of these wave groups, i.e., SS SS SS V V V + = + . Prove that SS V + and SS V may be determined from the following equations: 0 2 SS L SS L V R Z V R = , and 0 2 SS L SS L V R Z V R + + = .

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
