LA Donna Beaty’s essay on “What Makes a Serial Killer” has some very interesting information on the possible causes on why members of our society become serial killers. And I have a few of my own opinions. In the essay, Beaty said that majority of serial killers are males. And I think that men are a lot less cared about in society than women. Women in life usually find someone that helps provide their needs, and are less rejected by men. Men who also have higher testosterone levels could be attributed with the number of serial killers. But what happens to a man that can’t win a woman’s approval, can’t win a parents approval, it destroys him. Men usually strive to be respected and powerful, while woman try to be loved, and appreciated. Because of this, some men could be so driven for that need for respect is that they will kidnap and possibly murder. I also agree that the way someone is raised can lead to them becoming serial killers, children of parents who are alchaholics often get abused and they are scared in their own home. These children are often stuck in their position, afraid to get help. Over many years, children
