CRP 3210 Introduction to Quantitative Methods for the Analysis of Public Policy Study Guide for Final Exam To do well on the final exam, you should: 1. Know which financial formula to use to obtain a present worth, a future worth, or an annualized amount as is appropriate. You will be provided with tabulated values of factors for given interest rates and terms. 2. Be able to discuss what a social discount rate is, define several conceptually distinct rates that might be used as a discount rate, discuss the argwnents favoring high and low discount rates, and discuss the idea ofa 'social opportunity cost of capital.' 3. Be able to distinguish between internal and external benefits and direct and indirect costs, and know the conditions under which indirect effects constitute a real net change. 4. Have a sound understanding ofhow to use benefit-cost and cost-effectiveness ratios in selecting between capital projects. 5.
