A misapplication of energy conservation was considered a critical error in the whole problem. Having the wrong terms in the energy in either part was a fairly large error. Putting in energy lost to friction was a fairly large error in Part I. Missing something having to do with R in the final answer was a minor mistake, worth 1-2 points. ...
