Unformatted text preview: Procedure CAUT ION This experiment involves acid and other hazardous material. Students must wear approved lab wear and eye goggles. Do not touch your eyes, mouth, or handle food without washing with copious amounts of soap and water. PART A 1. Obtain ~0.500 g of Metal Ore Sample in a weigh boat. 2. Obtain approximately 5.00 mL of 1.00 M HCl in a 10 mL graduated cylinder. 3. Acquire a clean, dry 13mm x 100mm test tube and slowly and carefully add the 1.00 M HCl into the test tube. Then carefully add the Metal Ore Sample to the test tube containing the HCl. 4. Should observations be recorded after mixing the 1.00 M HCl and Metal Ore Sample? Does this mixture dissolve or react? 5. In a separate clean, dry 100 mL beaker add 5-10 mL of distilled water. Then dissolve approximately 0.100 g of Chromium(III) Nitrate solid with the distilled water. 6. In another separate clean, dry 100mL beaker add 5-10 mL of distilled water.
