Pastoralism: the agriculture use of animals such as cows and goats. Patriarchy: the oldest male in the family, or the father has control over his wife  and children Rite of Passage Longitudinal Study is a research study that involves repeated observations of the  same items over long periods of time Polygyny: The Masai families have many wives for just one husband. They would  do this to have bigger families that could control more land and animals. The  wives also find it easier to be a co-wife because there is less work to do. Often  the husband sleeps with his youngest wife The husband also chooses a man for his daughters to marry. They also have  their daughters and sons circumcised when they come of age as a rite of  passage.  The Masai woman must not be a virgin when she gets married.   The daughters sometimes have to move to different settlements when pre  arranged marriages happen. Forcing them to leave behind their old village for a  new unknown one.
