In the sixties morals were less apparent and when they were they were much looser and open minded. This stirred up great commotions and ciaos that hurt the American reputation both nationally and globally. In the seventies Americans wanted to put a halt to all the ciaos and wanted structured change, so they took a more conservative approach. But conservatism had a bad connotation back then so conservatism had to be introduced in government slowly or until it was more openly accepted. The sixties low morals standards had to be heightened so that they would be similar to the higher more religious morals. Also minorities and women had been fighting to stop discrimination and gain equality. The seventies was a time for all America to unite so they could reconstruct the family morals and fix government spendings. Family values were important to the conservatism politics where they were most apparent in the Equal Rights Amendment. The equal rights amendment would give rights to women in the
