Reading Assignment Chapter 7 - Microbial Genetics The content of this chapter has been split between three different learning modules (7, 8 and 9). This chapter describes several important processes involving the genetics of bacteria. It begins with a description of DNA structure and replication and then continues with a description of protein synthesis. Note the significance of the universality of the genetic code.

Many of these processes involve the binding of regulatory molecules to key locations on a segment of DNA.
