Instead, the homework for this week is the following: Read over the Group Project (posted on CTools) and start considering the issues. Students may form their own groups, or be assigned to a group, with 4 students per group. If you form your own group of 4, please bring a sheet of paper with the names by Monday, October 12th. If you require to be assigned to a group, let the GSIs know by Monday, October 12th. Read Section 5.3 in Chapter 5 of the textbook by Chan S. Park. Read the Investopedia article given below, and check from your lecture notes how the “Future value” numbers were obtained.

Americans' nonchalance was reflected in the negative savings rate of fiscal 2005, which occurred as people reduced their savings and delved further into debt in order to purchase goods and services. Although the savings rate had rebounded to 6% by May of 2009, as global financial crisis forced many consumers to adopt more cautious spending habits.
