Samuel A. Cordeiro POM 345 Prof. Peter Hughes February 3, 2010 Home – Style Cookies 1. The cookie production Process begins as soon as they get an order from a distributor. Then after the proper ingredients are inputted in a computer, the ingredients are automatically sent to giant mixer machines where the ingredients are combines with proper amounts of eggs, water, and flavorings. After this, the batter is places in a cutting machine. Then they are transported to two ovens and then boxed. 2. Two ways the company has increased productivity are by cutting the cookies in a diagonal-cut which require less space than straight-cut cookies. They also increased the length of each oven by 25 feet. By increasing the length of the oven, this allows more cookies to be baked, resulting in a faster output rate. 3. I think the company is making the right decision by not automating the packing of cookies. I feel by doing this, they are ensuring higher standards of quality by removing any broken or deformed cookies. The obligation that the company has to its employees is
