Quotas Qualitative regulations Trade Policies to encourage Exports: Subsidies Tax breaks Freedom to import without paying tariffs, if goods are re-exported . NTBs:Quotas Quotas. A quantitative limit on total imports. Most quotas are imposed by importing governments. Textile quotas are the most widespread. Some quotas are adopted “voluntarily” by exporting countries in response to pressure from importers. These are called VERs: voluntary export restraints . NTBs:Qualitative Regulations: For imports: Red tape Sanitary regulations Procurement regulations Technical standards Trade Policy and Institutions: Autarky A policy of national self-sufficiency and nonreliance on imports or economic aid. A self-sufficient region or country. ISI( Import Substituting Industrialization) is a trade and economic policy based on the premise that a country should attempt
