Stephanie Shum Social Studies 11 Completion Summer 2007 Assignment #10 Part A 1. I think that because of conflicting needs and wants, World War 1 would have resulted  regardless of whoever is pinpointed as the instigator. I do not think that any specific one  side could be blamed because in some senses, it was bound to happen. 2. Yes, I do believe the war was inevitable. The different sides were jealous, unhappy, and  angered with each other. The war was destined to happen, it was just a matter of when  and where. 3. No. I personally do not think that anyone is justified to kill someone else only to promote  nationalism. If killing is used for a thing like nationalism, it is only a wonder what the  country will think is morally correct, and set out to be doing. 4. Yes I think it was necessary for Britain to join the war because it would show it’s loyalty  to not only Belgium but to the rest of the world. Therefore, if Britain was later attacked,  then Belgium would have to return the favour and help protect them.  5. No I do not because I don’t think a forum would have solved the ongoing rivalry between  the countries. Seeing how much the countries loathed each other, I do not think that  sitting down an discussing issues would have solved the tension. 6.
