EXECUTIVE SUMMARY As external consultants to Jen Nielson of College Pro Canada, the challenge is to hire the most suited of three potential candidates for the vacant general manager position. Through heavy analysis on the past of the company as well as the present corporate structure, culture, leadership, power and influence, as well as motivation, it has been determined that Julie Deveraux is most suited to fill the position. Many qualitative and quantitative factors were taken into account in this decision, in particular the candidates numerical figures and improvements over their tenure as franchisees. Also, considerations among their history in terms of retaining employees, as well as recruiting other franchisees, and awards received. The action plan in accordance to hiring Julie is as follows: Contact Julie via phone and arrange a personal meeting Outline reasons as to why she was hired and why she is a valued asset to the company and distribute a letter of apology to non-hired candidates Construct a contract that advocates job expectations and job technicalities Organize detailed meetings that discuss the functions and responsibilities of the job Furthermore, the contingency plan involves taking the same steps in the case that Julie decides not to accept the position. If Julie declines, Caitlyn Ballard would be hired. If Julie does not perform up to College Pro’s expectations, she will undergo further developmental training to help her attain these standards. The above actions will ensure that College Pro hires the best qualified individual for their general manager position.
