A summary is a brief presentation of the main points in a text in a concise and condensed form. The goal of writing a summary of an article, a chapter, or a book is to offer as accurately as possible the full sense of the original text, but in a more condensed form. A summary restates the author’s main point, purpose, intent, and supporting details. Writing a summary shows how well you understand the text. First, you have to skim the article and find the main ideas, and then read the conclusion. This will give you a brief idea of what the text is about. Read the text again, highlight the important points and circle any key terms. Next, divide the article into sections, and label each section in the margins then note the main idea of each paragraph. Write a brief outline of the article that includes brief summaries of each paragraph. Write the main point of the article that expresses the central idea of the article. Write your
