A system software allows a computer user to develop or to execute other programs, and the main function of an operating system is to execute programs. The reason why the operating system is not placed in the system software layer is because it is the only software that can access directly the computer resources. Thus, the actual system software refer to the operating system when they need to access the resources of the computer. 1.3 Convert the decimal values (i) +1536 (ii) and –865 into the SIC two’s complement integer format.
