Normally, when food passes through the esophagus to the stomach, the lower esophageal sphincter opens to allow food into the stomach and then closes again. If the lower esophageal sphincter opens to often or does not close tight enough, stomach acid can reflux back into the esophagus, damaging it and causing a burning sensation. Appendicitis ~ Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix. Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes blocked, often by stool, a foreign body, or cancer. Blockage may also occur from infection, since the appendix swells in response to any infection in the body. If left untreated, an inflamed appendix will
