Get to Know Your Member of Congress 2 Indiana District 8, as many locals prefer The Bloody Eighth in which it is nicknamed. Because of its seriousness of the hard fought tight campaigns and political reversals. From 1966 to 1982, it ousted six incumbents; in 1984, the election was so close that it was decided in Congress. The eighth district consists of largely both Blue Dog Democrats and moderate republicans, in fact many are often more liberal than democratic candidates. The Representative for District 8 is Congressman Brad Ellsworth, a conservative Democrat. District 8 is located in the southern portion of the state. This district includes cities such as Evansville, Terre Haute, Vincennes, Greencastle, and Washington Indiana. Early Life and Education Ellsworth was born in Jasper, Indiana. In addition, he had spent most of his younger years in Huntington, Indiana. After graduating high school in 1976, he had attended college at the University of Southern Indiana, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, and later his degree in criminology. Law Enforcement In 1982, Ellsworth began his career as a law enforcement agent, at the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department. Over the past twenty three to twenty four years, he has reached and held every merit rank and was twice decorated for his heroism in the line of duty. After graduating
