Nutrient % Recommended I/A/E Justification energy (calories) 111.5% A Benefits/importance: - to maintain weight within certain levels by balancing intake of energy with energy expenditure, to sustain body in order to engage in activities. for me, consuming 3102 calories would be the balance point based on my weight, height and energy expenditure. Since I am consuming 111% of this value it is slightly higher the recommended amount therefore I will most likely gain weight. Negatives :consuming significantly more or less than the average daily expenditure can lead to adverse health effects, most notably in the weight department (either gaining or losing) Upper limits: Depends on how much you expend and various other variables such as weight and height. For me that figure is 3102 calories. Toxic limits : Consuming more calories than you need can lead to a slew of different diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. This, of course, takes place over time Deficiency levels: consuming less calories than you need makes your metabolism slow down. Furthermore, a state called ketosis develops whereby the body basically feeds off of itself. Other: According to my nutrient breakdown, I am consuming sufficient amounts of calories. water 156.6% E Benefits/Importance: Water is very important for the body because it is the most abundant fluid. Furthermore, it keeps many of the chemicals in the body in check such as sodium and electrolytes. 1 ml of water per kilogram of body weight should be sufficient to maintain hydration levels. Upper limit : drinking over 20l of water can prove hazardous as it leads to an electrolyte imbalance. When this occurs, heart problems and kindney failure can result. Toxic limits : over 20 l in a short period of time will lead to water intoxication, which results in a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that occurs when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by over- consumption of water .

Other: I am drinking an excess amount of water, this can be because I am fairly active. protein 236.3% E Benefits/ Importance: Protein has many functions. To name just a few, Protein’s primary function is the maintenance and growth of muscles. It is also important for the vitality of other tissues such as bones, skin, tendons, ligaments and eyes. Taking your weight in kilograms and multiplying it by 0.8 will tell you how many grams of protein you need. Furthermore 10-35 % of calories you consume should come from proteins Negatives : consuming too much protein is harmful to the kidneys. Upper limit:
