MIC 101 Lab Syllabus: Spring 2010 Page 1 A Hardcopy of this Syllabus should be brought to Lab as the first “Entry Visa” (10 Points). Please print all 5 Pages Full-Size. Please sign this first Page. MIC 101 Lab (Introductory Microbiology Lab) Spring 2010 Coordinator: Eric Mann erimann@ucdavis.edu 2094 SLB Stuff: MIC 101 Lab Manual (Davis Copy Shop) You can use a Fall or Winter 2010 MIC 101 CoursePack/Lab Manual. There have been some Changes made for the Spring 2010 Lab Manual but other than the Deletion of the entire Fall and Winter MIC 101 CoursePack, these are relatively Minor Changes. Text: A Photographic Atlas for the Microbiology Laboratory (Bookstore and Reserves) You will need this Book for the Lab. MIC 101 Lab Lab Points Lab Notebooks, Entry, Transit and Exit Visas 180 Points Microscope Practical (04/06/07 May) 20 Points Staining Practical (04/06/07 May) 20 Points Biochemical Unknowns (25/27/28 May) 20 Points Total Lab Points = 240 Points Your Total Lab Points (XXX/240) will be converted to a 100 Point Scale (XX/100) and will count 1/4 of your MIC 101 Grade. MIC 101 Professional Conduct 20 Professional Points will be deducted if you are late for the first Lab (30 March/01/02 April) Morning Labs start at 09:00 (not 09:02 or 09:05). Afternoon Labs start at 13:10. You are all Pre-Professionals and we expect your Behavior to be Professional. Being Late is Unprofessional Behavior. If you are more than 10 Minutes Late, your Spot will be given to Individuals on the WaitList who are present. MIC 101 is a very heavily impacted Course. We have 288 Spots and approximately 325 Students who need to enroll in the Course. If you are insufficiently motivated to get here on Time, trust me, there are a lot of other UCD Students who will gladly fill your Spot for you.

MIC 101 Lab Syllabus: Spring 2010 Page 2 Five (5) Professional Points will be deducted the first Time you are Late for any other MIC 101 Lab Ten (10) Professional Points will be deducted the second Time you are Late for a Lab. Fifteen (15) Professional Points will be deducted the third Time you are Late for a Lab. Twenty (20) Professional Points … OK, you get the Idea.
