Unformatted text preview: MEM380: Fundamental Robotics I Assignment 1I Due: Monday, 9/28/09, 11:59pm EST Objective: The objective of this assignment is to write familiarize yourself with Matlab . The following exercises are meant to be answered by either a script or a function m-file (you decide). The descriptions are complete but the nature of the input/output and display options is left to you. Also, some problems are much simpler than others. Suggestion: start simple and add complexity. 1. (5 points) The Fibonacci numbers are comuted according to the following relation F n = F n- 1 + F n- 2 with F = F 1 = 1. Write a Matlab script that outputs two row vectors. The first output vector should contain the first 10 terms of the Fibonacci sequence. The second output vector should contain the first 6 even terms of the Fibonacci sequence. The mod function here may be useful. To understand how to use the mod function, type help mod at the command prompt. 2. (5 points) Write a Matlab script that approximates π by computing the sum π ≈ 4 m X k =0 (- 1) k 2 k + 1 The more terms you keep in the summation, the more accurate your answer will be.
