EVR1001L Spring 2020 Easter Island: Carrying Capacity and Sustainability Lab Report – Original Savanah Huffman March 14, 2020 Materials and Methods: This was an experiment to figure out how civilization had affected forests and eventually their own villages. To conduct this experiment, a time ship was used to go back and forth between intervals of time to compare the amount of trees and people living on the island. To calculate the population density of Mulberry and Palm trees, a line transect was used to analyze and record how many of the different trees still remained in the 200 meter area. After calculating the population density of the trees, next was collecting data on the amount of people living in each village. For that process, a drone was flown over each village to collect the number of people living there. After those two processes were finished, they were repeated five more times in the following years of: 1200 AD, 1400 AD, 1500 AD, 1600 AD, and 1800 AD. Results: Tables and Graphs: Table 1.
