Course Description: A study of advanced Federal income tax law as it applies to partnerships, S corporations, C corporations as well as other selected topics. Course Prerequisites: ACCT 430 Income Tax Accounting or consent of instructor. Technology Skills: Word processing and data base searches. Lexis-Nexis legal service is on the network via the library Web page. Students will do data base searches in conjunction with research assignments. TurboTax will be used to prepare tax returns. Instructional Methods: Lecture, problems, tax return preparation, and tax research. Course Requirements: Required textbook and other materials: South-Western’s Federal Taxation , Comprehensive Volume 2010 ED; Authors: Willis, et al. ISBN: 0324828616. University Deadlines: Add/Drop Deadline: January 22 is the last day to add a full semester class and or drop a full semester class and receive a 100% refund. Withdraw Deadlines: March 25 is the last day to withdraw from all full semester courses and receive a refund. April 7 is the last day to withdraw from a full semester course or all courses and re- ceive a grade of “W”. Class Attendance Policy: 1. Roll will be taken each day. 2. The student is responsible for all subject matter (handouts, lecture materials, assign- ments, announcements, etc.) whether present or absent. Make-up Policy: Tests and quizzes are to be taken on the assigned date. Make up will be allowed if a valid reason for missing is presented to me before the test or quiz. Make up tests are usually taken on the day following the scheduled test or quiz at a time arranged with me. If you cannot reach me before the test or quiz, please send me an email or call me. (My phone forwards if I am not present.)
