Social Psychology 85-241 Homework #3 1. Bill’s attitude is composed of 3 components: affective, cognitive, and behavioral components. The affective attitude consists of the emotional aspect. The cognitive attitude relies on facts about the object or the beliefs that one has about it. The behavioral attitude is composed of how the person acts according to the object. Bill’s love for Microsoft, his passion for Zune, and his despise for the iPod are all parts of his affective attitude. When Bill thinks about how poorly the iPod was developed, this is his cognitive attitude. Lastly, when he swears uncontrollably, his behavioral attitude is playing its part. 2. Sweet Dee has displayed a cognitively based attitude. When one holds this attitude, he or she forms an attitude based on examinations of the hard details of an object. Charlie displayed an affectively based attitude, which is an attitude formed through one’s emotion about the object. 3. In order to change their minds and make sure my argument has a long-lasting
