Physics 7A DLM 4 Overview CG 1.1 Qualitative Application of Some Models Act-1.1.7 Qualitative (Mostly) Applications of the Energy-Interaction Model ( ~30 min) Learning Goals: Practice using the model to construct logical explanations of phenomena that are not easily explained Working with the construct power CG 1.2 Getting Quantitative With Models Act-1.2.4 More Practice With the Energy-Interaction Model (~ 30 mins) Learning Goals: Practice using the energy-interaction model rather than just using equations without understanding why CG 2.1 Extending the Energy Interaction Model to Mechanical Energies (Qualitative Discussion) We have the basic approach of the model, so it is straightforward to include additional energy systems. In particular, we add translational and rotational kinetic energy of an object, the gravitational potential energy of the earth on an object, and a spring potential energy. Act-2.1.1 Modeling With Mechanical Energy Systems (~35 mins) Learning Goals: Intro to two common mechanical energy systems: gravitational PE and translational KE. Practice using the energy-interaction model with mechanical energy systems: making inferences and comparing with observation. Act-2.1.2
