The Welfare State, Otto Von BismarckParagraph 1: Why would introducing “protective tariffs to protect domestic labor” cause a “quieting down of socialist efforts”? What are tariffs? How do they affect domestic labor? How does this undermine the socialists (i.e. quiet down socialist efforts)?Introducing “protective tariffs to protect domestic labor” caused a “quieting down of socialist efforts” because these measurements contradicts the many attempts of socialist which cannot benefit from the workers and due to this the workers with these renewal of benefits will stand firm against any socialist that may want to revise the new protective tariffs to secure domestic labor. Tariffs are a tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports. Tariffs are often forced to shield domestic industry from low priced imports. This leads to revenge with other countries putting tariffs on their on their exports. This erodes the socialist as a socialist economy is distinguished by social possession and democratic control of the method of production, which may mean self-governing cooperatives or direct pubic ownership; at which point manufacturing is accomplished directly for use.
