1.1 Testing the linear approximation The purpose of this section is to compare the linear approximated process with the actual process. Set up the block diagram in figure 1.1. Purple represents step response of linear approximated process. Yellow represents step response of the process. Actual Process: 1 ( ° + 1) 8 Linear-approximated Process: 1.00881 3.2617 ° + 1 From the graph above, we can conclude that the linear approximation of the process is almost to the actual process itself.
