1) The four types of decisions discussed in this chapter are intelligence decisions, design decisions, choice decisions, and finally implementation decisions. To elaborate, intelligence decisions require one to identify a problem and find ways to fix it. For instance, if a store’s sales were to fall after implementing a new marketing campaign, one might identify that the drop in recent sales is due to the new marketing campaign. Design decisions, is the phase in which one develops all the possible solutions in which to solve a problem. For example, this phase usually encompasses brainstorming. Choice decisions is the stage in which a company or individual decides the approach they wish to take to solve a specific problem. Finally, the implementation stage is the stage in which one would make final adjustments to their purposed solution so that it is tailored to the specific problem at hand. 2) A decision support system (DDS) is a system that enables employees to make better decisions by allowing a company’s employees to access critical information quickly and easily.
